Affiliate Mistakes That Can Kill Your Internet Marketing Career

If you do not have a well laid out plan, including goals, you may find that affiliate marketing is very difficult. Don't let this discourage you, you are definitely able to make a profit with this type of business. You will simply need to do your research. You will need to be willing to put plenty of effort in, and prepare fully for the long haul. This has been explained recently by Andrew Fox in his Affiliate Millionaire product.

Some affiliate marketers do everything correctly, but still fail to have any sales. They were able to get their affiliate marketing website up and running and were able to get plenty of traffic to their site, but are not seeing any profits. Why is this? What is causing them to not find success? Usually, they are making some of the mistakes discussed below. All of which need to be avoided if a person wants to be successful in affiliate marketing.

Selling Instead of Pre-selling

Do you put every ounce of your effort into creating a sales pitch for your affiliate product? If so, then you need to change your strategy. As an affiliate marketer 'sales' are not your thing. This is how sales happen or don't happen. If a visitor comes to your site and reads you well thought out sales pitch and chooses to click on the affiliate site, they are presented with yet another sales page. Do you think he/she will make a purchase? Of course not. Nobody likes being bombarded with sales pitches, your job as an affiliate marketer is to prepare the customer, not make the sale. Keep in mind, as an affiliate marketer you have to warm up the prospects and send them over to the actual sales page, not sell it yourself. This way you will be able to manage and keep the visitor's attention so they go through the whole buying cycle of being a prospect to a customer, rather than someone who just visited your website and left uninterested.

Be sure to test the product yourself. Use it at home.

To effectively promote your product, you should know how well it lives up to the manufacturers claims. Testing at home will give you the best shot at truthfully portraying the product to as many consumers as possible. Impart the benefits or problem solving features of the product to your customers. Use any information you have to show the reasons why you chose the product. If you use the product regularly, mention that too. Only if you have actually used your promoted product or service yourself can you give an accurate presentation to your interested visitors concerning whether it works as advertised, and any bonuses or drawbacks connected with its use. What you want, then, is for visitors to your site to trust you and have confidence in what you say because they see honest and helpful information instead of a hyped-up sales pitch. This is why you need to buy the product that you're trying to promote so that you know the ins and outs, and can speak about the product in authoritative way, giving others the inside view.

Failing To Track Conversions

It is your responsibility, as an affiliate, to be aware of what product is converting and what product is failing to convert. If you are not going to track your conversions, you are leaving a lot of money on the table. Particularly when you use PPC to promote affiliate products, you'll be able to turn losses into profits with effective conversion tracking. When you see a product is not converting (turning into sale), you can do some research to find out why. If you find it is that the sales page is not convincing enough, you can move onto another product. You should never make the error of staying with a product which is not converting. It is important to change gears quickly.

It is by creating several revenue streams that you will be able to make a killing online!
